Michael is a church planter and Senior Pastor of Hope Fellowship Church, a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic church located in Herndon, Virginia. Additionally, he serves as The Language Church Missionary with Montgomery Baptist Association focusing on enhancing and developing MBA‘s relationship with language mission churches.
For twelve and a half years, he served as Sr. Pastor for Christian Baptist Church located in Silver Spring, Md. Rev. Mattar, a native Liberian, actively serves in the Liberian Community of the Washington Metro Area through proclamation of the Gospel and community outreach which includes; immigration consultation services, funeral services rendered to members of the community without a home church, premarital counseling and weddings.
Rev. Mattar serves as a member of the African American Advisory Council, Baptist Conv. of Maryland/Delaware; a Board Member for Hindsfeet Ministry, a U.S. based ministry equipping children in Liberia; a Board Member of Washington Baptist University, a local Korean University located in Annandale, VA; and a Board Member for Loudoun Diversity Council, a local non-profit organization providing tutoring and enrichment programs for Loudoun County Public Schools.
He attended Washington Bible College located in Lanham, MD, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry. He also attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for the first 2 years of his Master’s program, completing his Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, Virginia.
Rev. Mattar has been married to his lovely wife, Lucretia, for 25 years and they have been blessed with 3 wonderful children, Michael Jr. - 22, currently a senior at George Mason University, Liesl Michelle - 12, and Elias Monroe Halim - 9.
